James Robert Appleman
September 4th, 1983 - September 5th, 1999

My brother was a very caring and kind young man. Probably the best little brother a girl could ask for. I remeber when we were both young and playing with the neighborhood kids, when they would pick on me...he'd yell "Stop picking on my sister!", he was always one to take care of me despite his young age. Granted we'd have our own fights like siblings often do, but I think as we both grew up we bonded and used our diversity to share with one another. I'll always remeber him as my favorite movie date and shopping buddy...he was always up for doing anything as long as he got out of the house and ran the risk of having me buy him something. As I went away to school, we still kept in touch...he finally got mail, he was always one happy for recieving letters!

My brothers life was cut short in the summer of 1999, as a result of a brain tumor. On the lucky side we did not know about the tumor untill July, which enabled my brother to life a full and healthy life...only in the last 2-3 months of his life did he ever really suffer. In August, he went into surgery for a biopsy and possible resection of the tumor. All went well...he came out of surgery as well as one would expect. Though the verdict on the tumor did not look good. His condition while seemingly ok...seemed to deteriorate after a week in the hospital, and so my mother and I made the decision to move him into hospice care. This was the right choice in that he would feel no pain and wouldn't be stuck in the hospital anymore. Within 2 days of him being moved, he passed on...the day after his 16th birthday..it was as though he was holding on to make that date. He fought strong and hard, but he couldn't stop the inevitable from happening. That Sunday evening, he left us.

My brother will be forever in my heart and soul. I Love you and miss you James!
